APC Chairman Oyewole Mayowa Solomon dies during Kogi reconciliation meeting

Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman for the Ijumu Local Government Area in Kogi State, has died following a sudden collapse during a party reconciliation meeting.

The meeting, held at the Iyara Town Hall, was convened by former chairman Funsho Olumoko to resolve internal leadership disputes and harmonize political interests among party factions. Witnesses reported that Solomon collapsed mid-proceedings, causing panic among the delegates. He was rushed to a medical facility in Kabba but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The exact medical cause of death has not been officially disclosed. The sudden passing has drawn condolences from federal lawmakers, including Senator Sunday Karimi and Hon. Salman Idris, who described Solomon as a dedicated grassroots mobilizer.

In response to public speculation regarding the circumstances of the death, the Ogidi-Omo Movement issued a statement defending Dr. Olumoko, describing attempts to politicize the tragedy as “reckless and insensitive” and asserting that the meeting was proceeding normally before the collapse.
