APC launches diaspora mobilization strategy for 2027 election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has unveiled the Directorate of Diaspora Mobilisation to engage Nigerians living abroad ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Led by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the initiative aims to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid through a five-point strategy involving digital advocacy, diaspora chapter mobilization, fundraising, voter education, and rapid responses to misinformation.

Dabiri-Erewa emphasized the importance of the diaspora, noting that Nigerians abroad contribute over $20 billion annually in remittances. The campaign intends to use international networks to counter negative narratives about the administration and project an accurate image of Nigeria’s progress. Additionally, the directorate plans to activate party chapters across five continents and has called for legislative amendments to allow Nigerians living abroad to participate more directly in the political process.

During the announcement in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa also claimed that an increasing number of foreign nationals are expressing interest in obtaining Nigerian citizenship and passports, suggesting a growing positive perception of the country among potential investors.
