APC leaders address party unity and defections in Bayelsa and Ondo
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is addressing internal stability and leadership changes across different Nigerian states. In Bayelsa, former Governor and Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Sylva has resigned from the party, alleging that the APC has deviated from its founding ideals. In response, Yekini Nabena, a former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, stated that the party remains intact and united in Bayelsa. Nabena asserted that the party's structure is stronger than any single individual and expressed commitment to delivering President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
In Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has issued warnings against members creating factions within the APC. During an APC Elders Council meeting, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the need for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that efforts are underway to reconcile members and prevent the emergence of parallel groups. He urged party members to strengthen structures from the local government level down to polling units and to support President Tinubu’s administration.
