APC Leaders in Kogi and Edo Call for Unity and Neutral Traditional Rulers Ahead of 2027 Elections

In Kogi State, members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) West Leaders Forum warned Governor Usman Ododo to stop using traditional rulers for partisan purposes. The forum said coercing chiefs to issue statements against Senator Sunday Steve Karimi could spark communal violence and undermine the neutral role of traditional institutions. The statement referenced a meeting scheduled for June 26, 2026, where the governor was expected to persuade traditional leaders to oppose the APC candidate in the upcoming 2027 senatorial race.

In Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo addressed APC stakeholders in the Edo Central Senatorial District, urging unity and collective effort to secure victories in the 2027 general elections. He highlighted recent infrastructure projects, the removal of the fuel subsidy, and announced that Nigeria’s First Lady would visit Edo to support women’s business loans. The governor emphasized that party cohesion was essential for electoral success at both local and national levels.
