APDHA appeals dismissal of investigation into prohibited weapons at Vox rally

The Association for Human Rights of Andalusia (APDHA) is appealing a court decision in Granada to dismiss an investigation into the potential use of prohibited weapons during a Vox political rally on April 17.

The incidents occurred near the Granada Cathedral after Vox leader Santiago Abascal called for the removal of protesters near the event stage. Audiovisual footage from the confrontation appeared to show individuals carrying items resembling telescopic batons. APDHA had requested that police identify those carrying such weapons and that Vox disclose the security firm and personnel hired for the event.

A judge ordered the dismissal of the case, citing that the protest lacked the necessary authorization from authorities. The court noted that the Subdelegation of the Government confirmed no communication regarding the protest had been received. APDHA has criticized this decision as unjustified, arguing that the lack of protest authorization should not prevent the investigation into the potential use of prohibited weapons.
