Ape Escape may return to PlayStation 5 via Evening Star

Reports suggest the PlayStation franchise Ape Escape may return to development for PlayStation 5. According to industry reports from VGC and journalist Jeff Gerstmann, a new title is being developed by the independent studio Evening Star, rather than Sony’s internal Team ASOBI.

Evening Star, founded by members of the Sonic Mania team and creators of Penny’s Big Breakaway, is reportedly handling the project. This move aligns with a broader strategy by Sony Interactive Entertainment to revive dormant intellectual properties by licensing them to third-party developers.

The project is reportedly in its early stages, having received approval earlier this year. While not expected to be released imminently, the development follows similar rumors regarding a potential Killzone remaster involving Guerrilla Games. Sony has not officially commented on these reports.
