APEDA facilitates Indian food exports to Canada and Greece

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated several new food product shipments from India to international markets.

A 24 metric tonne consignment of frozen food products, including green peas, mixed vegetables, sweet corn, and samosas, was dispatched from Sonipat, Haryana, to Canada. The shipment, valued at 35,140 Canadian dollars, was exported by Aterna Foods Producer Company Limited with support from APEDA’s Financial Assistance Scheme.

Additionally, a 1 metric tonne consignment of popped makhana (Phool Makhana) from Purnea, Bihar, was flagged off for export to Greece. Sourced by Indo Global Export and exported via S. S Foods Exports Pvt. Ltd., the shipment is scheduled to travel from Mundra Port to Piraeus Port.

Bihar remains a dominant force in the sector, producing 80-85 percent of India’s makhana. According to Bihar Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, India exported over 7,000 metric tonnes of makhana and related products worth $22 million to more than 20 international destinations during FY 2025-26.
