Apeldoorn and Haarlem municipalities invite residents to shape local projects

The municipality of Apeldoorn is encouraging residents to submit ideas for neighbourhood improvements, offering subsidies for projects over €5,000 in two yearly rounds and year‑round funding for smaller initiatives. The city also announced a new child mayor, Levi (10), who will represent local schoolchildren, and highlighted the recent Water Race win by a primary school that promoted water‑saving actions.

In Haarlem, officials are holding a series of public information evenings to gather ideas for the future of the stations area. Residents can comment on plans for a redesigned station square, new bus facilities, additional bicycle parking, and mixed‑use housing and workplaces. The consultation runs through the week, with a final public input period scheduled for later this year and construction expected to start in 2028.
