Apex Legends announces major Ranked mode overhaul
Respawn Entertainment has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap to restructure the Apex Legends Ranked system across two upcoming seasons. The changes aim to address long-standing player feedback regarding character dominance and lobby imbalances.
Season 31, arriving in November 2026, will introduce a Legend banning system for Diamond rank and above. During a dedicated phase, players will nominate Legends; the more votes a character receives, the higher its probability of being banned. This weighted random system is designed to prevent a predictable meta while increasing tactical variety. Additionally, Season 31 will implement adjusted entry costs for 'Challenger' and 'Goliath' matches to balance gameplay when squads face opponents significantly above or below their rank.
Season 32, scheduled for early 2027, will expand the ranking hierarchy by introducing Iron, Emerald, and Grandmaster ranks. The competitive structure will also be split into an Open League and a Pro-Am League. Further updates planned for Season 32 include a scoring overhaul, revised rewards, and changes to team kill RP.
