Apice dog survives brutal attack and attempted strangulation
A dog named Giotto was brutally attacked in Apice, in the province of Benevento, Italy. A passerby alerted municipal police after witnessing a man striking the animal repeatedly with a stick.
Upon arrival, authorities found the dog unconscious in a pool of blood with severe injuries to its head and body. The animal had a cord tightened around its neck in an apparent strangulation attempt and a leg that was nearly severed by a sharp blow, consistent with an axe or hoe.
Following the attack, the dog suffered from severe anemia and shock. LNDC Animal Protection has intervened to transfer the dog to a specialized veterinary clinic for intensive care, including antibiotic and analgesic therapies. Due to necrosis, the animal will require surgical amputation of the affected limb once stabilized. The association has filed a formal complaint to identify and prosecute the perpetrator.
