Apler union elections in Entre Ríos may see first female leader
The Asociación del Personal Legislativo de Entre Ríos (Apler) will hold elections on October 16 to renew its provincial leadership, currently headed by Sergio Almeida. For the first time in the union's 30-year history, a woman may lead the organization.
Two lists are competing for the position. The Lista Celeste y Blanca Acción y Compromiso Legislativo is led by Carina Farías, the current union secretary. The second option, Lista Unidad Legislativa, is headed by María Florencia Busti.
Farías noted that the candidacy reflects a change in the era, stating that women are prepared to face such challenges after building a strong foundation within the union. Both candidates face a landscape where workers are demanding better remuneration to combat declining real wages and inflation.
