Čapljina: 800 pine saplings planted on Gradina

In Čapljina, 800 pine saplings were planted on Gradina to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The initiative was organized by the First Čapljina Company Association and the Children of Saint Francis, with logistical support from the City of Čapljina.

Participants included children, youth, local associations, city services, firefighters, and volunteers. The planting aims to restore greenery and enhance the Gradina site. Mayor Iva Raguž and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management Mario Jurica participated in the event, which also included a visit to a viewpoint developed under the GREENPULSE project. This project focuses on sustainable tourism and improving pedestrian and cycling paths.

In addition to the ecological goals, the event highlighted the historical significance of the location. Dragan Mandić Manda, president of the HVO Veterans Association, spoke about the area's role during the Homeland War.
