APM Terminals Nigeria expands scholarships and environmental initiatives

West Africa Container Terminal (WACT)-APM Terminals Nigeria has expanded its scholarship programme, adding 52 new beneficiaries to bring the total to 193. The latest cohort includes 47 students from the host communities of Onne and Ogu in Rivers State, alongside five children of employees. Managing Director Courage Obadagbonyi stated the initiative aims to build a pool of educated professionals to contribute to the local economy and the wider maritime sector.

In addition to financial aid, the company has implemented an internship scheme and the 'EngineerHER' programme, which provides female engineering graduates with a year of practical industry exposure.

Parallel to these educational investments, APM Terminals Apapa conducted a large-scale clean-up exercise at the Lagos Port Complex as part of its '2026 Go Green Week.' The initiative focused on cleaning major access roads and included tree-planting activities to support biodiversity. Managing Director Kamal Alhraishat noted that these efforts are part of a global campaign to reach net-zero operations by 2040.
