Apocalyptic targets Group 2 Golden Pendant success at Rosehill

Trainer Michael Freedman is optimistic about the chances of the four-year-old mare Apocalyptic in the upcoming Group 2 Golden Pendant at Rosehill. The $300,000 race will be contested over 1400 metres, a distance the mare has not attempted yet during this campaign.

Apocalyptic has not won since the Group 1 Flight Stakes last year. Her recent preparation includes a third-place finish in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality and a fifth-place finish in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes. Following the Sheraco Stakes, where the mare struggled to straighten in the home straight, Freedman has utilized physiotherapy and the addition of a tongue tie to address her performance.

Freedman believes the 1400-metre tempo may suit the mare better. Her performance at Rosehill will help determine future racing targets for the mare, who is owned by a group through MyRacehorse.
