Apoera building destroyed by fire due to equipment failure

A building on Kabalebolaan in Apoera was completely destroyed by fire in the early morning hours after the local fire department was unable to intervene. The failure to respond was due to a defective fire engine and the lack of an available water tanker truck.

The emergency vehicle, which was traveling from Washabo to address a previous grass fire near Koemboelaan and Obering, broke down during transit. This left the department without the necessary equipment to combat the subsequent blaze at the Kabalebolaan property.

Rayoncommandant Humphrey Veira expressed profound helplessness, noting that he could only watch as the fire consumed the building. Local reports indicate that requests for a dedicated water tanker truck for the Apoera area have been ongoing for some time. Additionally, authorities have warned the community against burning waste or grass, as extreme drought conditions are significantly increasing the risk of rapid fire spread.
