Apokoronas Municipality calls for protest against high-voltage power lines in Crete

The Municipality of Apokoronas has issued a call for Cretans living in Attica, local associations, and concerned citizens to attend a significant event on November 11, 2026, at the National Technical University of Athens. The gathering aims to address the proposed installation of high-voltage power lines by ADMIE in the Madara region of Northern Crete.

During the event, Professors Dimitris Kaliambakos and Nikos Belavilas will present a scientific study titled: “Environmental, economic and social assessment of high-voltage line routes (Chania–Damasta) in Northern Crete and investigation of alternative scenarios.”

Mayor Charalampos Koukinakis emphasized that the mobilization is a message of unity and responsibility to protect the natural environment and ensure development that respects the local landscape and its people.
