Apokoronas Municipality disputes claims over Kalives power outages

A dispute has emerged in Kalives, Crete, regarding scheduled power outages required for urgent infrastructure maintenance. The Kalives Shopkeepers Association expressed frustration over the interruptions, noting that the lack of prior notice caused significant damage to nearby businesses. The Association stated, "If there had been prior notification, the disruption from the power outages would not have occurred."

The Technical Service of the Municipality of Apokoronas has rejected these claims, asserting that timely notifications were issued to citizens and professionals for both Wednesday and Friday. The municipality clarified that the works were carried out under emergency procedures following an inspection that revealed an immediate need for intervention to prevent "serious and potentially irreversible problems." The local authorities emphasized that the safety of critical infrastructure and citizens necessitated immediate action.
