Apollo Global Management expands with Noble Environmental stake and Emerald‑Questex events merger
Apollo Global Management announced two major acquisitions. Its funds purchased a majority interest in Noble Environmental, Inc., a Pittsburgh‑based waste‑management platform that operates landfills, transfer stations and a renewable natural gas business serving the Northeast, Mid‑Atlantic and Midwest United States. Partners Scott Browning and Brad Fierstein said the company “has built a differentiated platform in one of the most attractive waste markets in the country.”
In a separate deal, Apollo agreed to acquire Emerald Holding for about $1.5 billion, taking the company private and merging it with Questex. The combined entity will operate roughly 160 trade shows and digital‑engagement platforms across home‑design, outdoor, hospitality, beauty, technology and other sectors. Apollo’s managing director Shahid Bosan said the firm believes “AI and digital tools are elevating—not replacing—the value of trusted in‑person industry gatherings.” The transaction positions the new platform to meet rising demand for in‑person B2B events.
Both deals reflect Apollo’s strategy to invest in essential service and media businesses, expanding its presence in waste management and the fragmented B2B events market.
