Apollo Group to launch KFC franchise in Norway with €20 million investment
Estonian‑based Apollo Group is acquiring the Norwegian fast‑food chain Fly Chicken to introduce the KFC brand to Norway for the first time. The deal includes converting most of Fly Chicken’s locations into KFC restaurants and opening additional outlets over the next five years. Apollo Group, which already operates 38 KFC restaurants across the Baltic states and Finland, will make Norway its fifth market.
The acquisition was negotiated with Fly Holding AS, whose main shareholders are the Sandvik family, Knut Nikolai Tønnevold Ugland and chief executive Ronny Gjøse. Apollo Group’s chief executive Toomas Tiivel highlighted the opportunity to combine Fly Chicken’s local market knowledge with Apollo’s experience in international restaurant concepts. The expansion is backed by a €20 million investment plan.
