Apollo Hospitals expands Teynampet oncology unit into multi-speciality facility

Apollo Hospitals has announced the transformation of its flagship oncology unit in Teynampet, Chennai, into a comprehensive multi-speciality hospital. Formerly known as the Apollo Cancer Centre, the facility has been renamed Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet.

While the hospital will maintain its established tertiary and quaternary cancer care services—including CyberKnife, bone marrow transplants, and CAR-T Cell Therapy—it is expanding to include cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, spine and orthopaedics, urology, and internal medicine. The upgraded 300-bed facility includes 51 critical care beds, five operating theatres, an advanced Cath Lab, a dedicated stroke care unit, and Tamil Nadu’s first Zoom Endoscopy system.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr. K. G. Arunraj attended the launch, emphasizing the necessity of integrated healthcare systems for patients with complex conditions. He also acknowledged Apollo Hospitals for contributing Rs. 1 crore to the government’s ‘Nalam TN’ initiative. Apollo leadership noted that the expansion aims to provide seamless multidisciplinary care and extend specialized services to entire families.
