Apollonia Archaeological Park fire under control with no monument damage

A fire broke out in the hills of Pojan near the Apollonia Archaeological Park in Albania. Firefighting forces and aerial units have been deployed to isolate and extinguish the flames to protect the site and nearby residential areas.

Blendi Gonxhja, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, visited the scene and confirmed that no monuments, artifacts, or museum sections within the park have been damaged. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by human error, and police are currently investigating the cause.

The Minister praised Andrea Rama, a visitor from Lushnja, for his quick actions in spotting the fire and assisting park security in the initial minutes of the incident. Gonxhja emphasized the importance of protecting cultural heritage and urged citizens to report such incidents immediately rather than attempting to fight them alone.
