Apoloniusz Tajner expresses optimism for Polish ski jumping season
Apoloniusz Tajner, President of the Polish Ski Association, has expressed optimism regarding the upcoming winter season, noting significant progress and increased competition within the national team. Speaking during the Summer Polish Championships in Zakopane, Tajner highlighted a generational shift, observing that a large group of athletes aged 19 to 22 is now challenging the established senior jumpers.
Tajner noted that at least 15 athletes are currently performing at a similar high level, a depth of talent he suggests has not been seen in recent years. He specifically identified Kacper Tomasiak, Paweł Wąsek, and Klemens Joniak as the current leaders, while also noting that veterans like Piotr Żyła and Dawid Kubacki continue to maintain their form.
German media outlets have also taken interest in these developments, describing Tajner's outlook as an “exciting forecast after a season of horror,” following recent years where Polish jumpers played more secondary roles in the World Cup.
