Apostle Eric Nyamekye recounts escaping armed robberies in South Africa

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has shared personal accounts of nearly losing his life during a six-year residency in South Africa. Speaking during a visit from Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in Accra, Nyamekye revealed he was targeted by armed robbers on two separate occasions, describing the second encounter as life-threatening.

Nyamekye noted that his experiences provided firsthand insight into the security and social challenges faced by foreign nationals in South Africa, particularly regarding crime and xenophobic violence. He mentioned that his history with these issues informed his decision to travel to South Africa recently following the kidnapping of a national deacon. His testimony highlights the ongoing concerns regarding the safety and livelihoods of Ghanaians and other African nationals living in the country.
