Apostle Kwadwo Safo Thanksgiving Service Scheduled in Kumasi

A National Thanksgiving Service honoring the late Apostle Emeritus Professor Engineer Kwadwo Safo will be held on Saturday, 8 August 2026 at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, Ghana. The ceremony, beginning at 9:00 a.m., is organized by the Kristo Asafo Mission in partnership with the Kantanka family to celebrate Safo’s 113‑year life and his contributions as a spiritual leader, inventor, industrialist and philanthropist.

Safo founded the Kantanka Group and pioneered Ghana’s indigenous automobile industry through Kantanka Automobile, creating thousands of jobs and advancing mechanised agriculture and vocational training. The service follows a series of funeral events, including his burial at Gomoa Mpota – the site of his technology and innovation centre – and a national funeral at Black Star Square in Accra that drew massive public attendance. Expected guests include traditional rulers, clergy, government officials, industrialists and members of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
