The Orthodox Church commemorates Apostle Titus on Tuesday, August 25. A close collaborator of the Apostle Paul, Titus is traditionally recognized as the first Bishop of Crete.
Of Greek origin, Titus was a key figure in the early Christian Church. He accompanied Paul to Jerusalem during critical theological discussions regarding whether non-Jews converting to Christianity were required to follow Jewish law. Paul’s epistle to Titus describes him as a 'true child according to the common faith,' highlighting their deep spiritual bond.
