Apostolos Tamvakis warns AI will reshape careers at Piraeus University ceremony

Apostolos Tamvakis, founder and CEO of EOS Capital Partners and EOS Global Investors, addressed students during his honorary doctorate ceremony at the University of Piraeus. He described artificial intelligence as a general‑purpose technology on par with electricity, the steam engine and the internet, capable of analysing data, writing, programming, generating images and video, and even making decisions. Tamvakis cautioned that the next generation will likely have “many careers” rather than a single lifelong job, emphasizing rapid learning, continuous adaptation and re‑skilling as essential. He argued that AI will not eliminate whole professions but will transform specific tasks – for example, lawyers can delegate legal research and contract drafting to AI while retaining strategic decision‑making. The speaker urged young professionals to view AI as an opportunity to augment human capabilities rather than a threat.

He concluded with the message: “The future will not belong to those who fear change. It will belong to those who learn faster, adapt continuously and create real value for society.”
