App-based cab services face passenger complaints over fares and safety

Passengers using app-based cab services in India are reporting increasing issues regarding both pricing and safety. At Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, travelers have complained of being overcharged. Drivers allegedly demand an additional Rs 100 to 200 above the app-quoted fare, citing airport entry and parking costs, and sometimes threaten to cancel rides if the extra amount is refused.

Drivers have responded to these complaints by stating that aggregator companies do not provide a fair base fare, making trips financially unsustainable due to high commissions and rising fuel costs. Passengers have called for authorities to intervene and establish a standard protocol for base fares and parking charges.

In a separate incident involving ride-hailing services, a passenger reported a dangerous experience with an Uber driver. The passenger alleged that the driver operated the vehicle recklessly, nearly colliding with a bus, and responded with verbal abuse when confronted about the driving behavior. The passenger has urged the company to take disciplinary action to prevent future safety risks.
