APP candidate Luis Enrique Calero Enríquez detained for identity theft

Luis Enrique Calero Enríquez, a candidate for the Regional Council of Junín representing the Alianza para el Progreso (APP) party, was detained in the El Tambo district following a police intervention.

During a patrol near the intersection of Evitamiento and Mariscal Castilla avenues, officers stopped a vehicle that was missing a front license plate. Calero Enríquez allegedly attempted to use a national identity document (DNI) belonging to Manuel Gregorio Calero Enríquez. Police noted that the physical characteristics and photograph on the document did not match the individual. After presenting a minor's ID and failing signature verification, the individual admitted his true identity.

In addition to the suspected identity theft, investigations by the Ministry of Transport and Communications revealed that Calero Enríquez has had a canceled driver's license and has been disqualified from driving since September 2019. He has been transferred to the El Tambo police station for investigation into crimes against public faith, specifically under the modality of generic falsehood.
