App drivers injured in separate Brazil traffic collisions

A 20‑year‑old delivery rider, Douglas Rebouças do Nascimento, was severely injured after his Honda Titan motorcycle collided with a truck on Avenida Chico Mendes in Rio Branco. The impact caused a serious traumatic brain injury, eye damage and multiple abrasions, leading emergency personnel to intubate him on the street before transporting him to a hospital for specialized care.

In a separate incident in Apucarana, a 36‑year‑old rideshare driver was hurt in a lateral collision between his VW Voyage and a Chevrolet Corsa. He suffered a head contusion and headache, while the two passengers in his vehicle and the occupants of the other car, including a father and son, escaped without injury. He was taken to a trauma unit for evaluation.

Both accidents prompted police investigations and highlighted the risks faced by app‑based drivers in Brazil.
