Appalachian State defeats East Carolina 27-24

Appalachian State defeated East Carolina 27-24 on Saturday, marking their fourth consecutive win in the series. Malachi Singleton led the Mountaineers with 267 passing yards and a 4-yard rushing touchdown.

Appalachian State capitalized on two turnovers, including a red zone fumble by ECU that set up Singleton’s touchdown. Jaquari Lewis contributed a 10-yard touchdown run, finishing the game with 73 rushing yards. Despite a late 60-yard touchdown drive by ECU that left only 21 seconds on the clock, Appalachian State secured the victory by successfully recovering an onside kick attempt.

For East Carolina, Mitch Griffis completed 21 of 37 passes for 230 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while Ashton Gray rushed for 99 yards. The loss brings ECU to a 0-2 record.
