Apple adds 4K video and energy‑monitoring to Home app in iOS 27

Apple announced at its WWDC keynote that iOS 27 will deliver a major upgrade to the Home app. New AI‑powered features will automatically combine related video clips, highlight “notable” recordings in search, and merge multiple alerts from the same device into a single push notification, reducing notification overload.

The update also removes the 1080p limit for HomeKit Secure Video, enabling 4K streams from compatible cameras. In addition, a new energy‑consumption tile will show power usage for Matter‑compatible smart plugs, giving users a direct view of household electricity draw. Apple noted that the features depend on Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, and it remains unclear if they will be available in the EU or Germany at launch.
