Apple adds AI photo tools and new features to iOS 27
Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 will bring a suite of AI‑powered capabilities to the Photos app. New tools let users erase unwanted objects, expand image edges and subtly reframe perspective with just a few taps. The features run on iPhones equipped with Apple Intelligence, starting with the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and all later models such as the iPhone 16 series.
Rumors also suggest additional upgrades that have not yet appeared in the beta. Siri may soon let users pick from multiple large‑language‑model chatbots, including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. The Health app is expected to gain AI‑driven coaching, using the camera to analyse exercise form. Writing assistance and an "Image Playground" will support other AI services for text and image generation. The Camera app could become customizable, letting users rearrange or hide toolbar buttons. A split‑screen mode is rumored for a foldable "iPhone Ultra," allowing two apps to run side‑by‑side on a larger display. iOS 27 is slated for a September release alongside other major Apple updates.
