Apple advances foldable iPhone plans and Vision Pro redesign
Apple is advancing several hardware and software initiatives across its product lineup. Counterpoint predicts that Apple’s debut foldable device, expected in 2026, could reach sales volumes of six million units. This projection serves as a benchmark for the company's ability to scale production and manage the mechanical complexities inherent in foldable displays.
Regarding mixed reality, Apple is reportedly developing a redesigned Vision Pro under the internal codename N224. The project, led by the Special Projects Group, aims to improve weight, volume, and wearer comfort. Four design concepts are currently under review, including options that might utilize an external computing module or a lower-cost chip with different materials like titanium or plastic. A market launch for this redesigned model is anticipated no earlier than late 2028 or early 2029.
In the immediate term, Apple has released visionOS 27.0.1 for the Vision Pro headset. This update focuses on system stability and critical security patches, coinciding with similar updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS.
