Apple's camera‑equipped AirPods Ultra detailed in iOS 27 beta leak

Developer Sam Henri Gold discovered code in the iOS 27 beta 2 that references an internal device identifier B790. The code describes processing “two images from cameras on either side of the user's head,” a configuration that matches earbuds rather than glasses. The same fragment mentions Apple’s Visual Intelligence feature, suggesting the device would let Siri answer contextual questions about objects, landmarks or text the user points at.

The evidence points to a forthcoming “AirPods Ultra” model that integrates dual infrared cameras into the ear‑hook stems. Bloomberg and other outlets have reported that Apple plans to launch the product in late 2027, with price speculation in the $299–$349 range and branding under the AirPods Ultra name. While some leakers have claimed the project was suspended, the presence of active software support in a shipping beta indicates the hardware is still under development. Apple is also reportedly working on smart glasses (codenamed N50), but the B790 identifier aligns with the AirPods series, making camera‑equipped AirPods the most likely target of the leak.
