Apple and Amazfit introduce new smartwatch capabilities

Apple announced that its upcoming watchOS 27 update will bring a new "Superpower" to the Apple Watch, featuring deeper Siri AI integration and seamless handoff to an iPhone. Senior Director of watchOS software, David Clark, said the goal is to "expand the intelligence strategy on the Apple Watch and make it a real partner of Apple Intelligence," allowing users to continue conversations started on the wrist on their phone.

Amazfit rolled out a beta feature called "iOS Notification Forwarding" for select European models, enabling users to reply to messages, answer calls and mark notifications as read directly from the watch. The feature currently supports the Cheetah 2 Ultra, Balance Ultra and Balance 3, with broader device support planned.

Both updates aim to make smartwatches more autonomous and improve the overall user experience when interacting with iOS devices.
