Apple and Tesla data breach exposes 630 GB of confidential files from Indian supplier Tata Electronics

Ransomware group World Leaks leaked more than 200,000 files – about 630 GB – from Tata Electronics, an Indian subcontractor that manufactures components for Apple and Tesla. The dump contains Apple iPhone assembly specifications, Tesla Model Y and Model 3 component designs, as well as documents from other supply‑chain firms such as TSMC and Qualcomm. The data appeared on the dark web from June 10 and was publicly disclosed on June 26.

Apple has opened an internal investigation and is working with Tata Electronics on remediation. Tata confirmed it detected a cybersecurity incident weeks earlier, says operations were not affected, and has restricted remote access to sensitive systems, hired a global consulting firm for forensic audit and reported the breach to the Indian government. Tesla has not issued a comment. The breach highlights supply‑chain security risks as Apple expands iPhone production in India.
