Apple announces donations for Nepal and Tibet flood relief

Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the company will provide donations to support relief and rebuilding efforts in Nepal and Tibet following devastating flash floods and mudslides. The disaster was triggered on Wednesday when part of a Himalayan glacier collapsed, creating a temporary dam that eventually released a surge of water and mud downstream.

The catastrophe has resulted in hundreds of deaths or missing persons and has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and homes near the Nepal–Tibet border. While Apple has not disclosed the specific amount of the donation, the company has a history of providing disaster relief for various global events.

This announcement follows recent relief contributions by Apple for disasters in Indonesia, Venezuela, Japan, and Southern Europe. Additionally, the company maintains an internal ‘Employee Giving’ program that matches staff donations.
