Apple announces iOS 27 iPhone compatibility list and raises AppleCare+ prices in Spain
Apple disclosed that every iPhone currently supporting iOS 26 will be eligible for the upcoming iOS 27 update, extending compatibility from the newly announced iPhone 17 series down to the iPhone SE (2nd generation). The final iOS 27 release is slated for September, will be free, and will include new Siri AI features that European users may not receive because of the EU Digital Markets Act.
In a separate move, Apple increased the cost of AppleCare+ coverage for most Mac models and the entire iPad lineup in Spain. Annual fees for the MacBook Air 13‑inch rose from €79.99 to €84.99, the 14‑inch MacBook Pro from €109.99 to €114.99, and the 16‑inch model from €159.99 to €164.99. iPad plans now cost an additional €0.50 per month (or €10 per two‑year term). Existing contracts remain unchanged. The price hikes follow earlier increases attributed to higher RAM and NAND prices driven by AI data‑center demand.
