Apple to replace iPhone 18 Pro Max units following AT&T network failure

Apple has announced that a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max users on the AT&T network will need to replace their devices due to a technical flaw. The issue prevents affected handsets from connecting to AT&T’s cellular network, making it impossible to make calls, send text messages, or access mobile data.

To prevent further occurrences, Apple has released a new software version, iOS 27.0.1, along with a carrier settings update. While the carrier settings update will roll out automatically over the next 14 days, the software update is recommended for immediate manual installation.

Crucially, Apple and AT&T have clarified that these software updates are preventative measures only; they will not resolve the issue for devices that have already lost service. Customers whose devices are already malfunctioning must have their hardware replaced through Apple or AT&T. The problem appears specific to the iPhone 18 Pro Max on the AT&T network and does not affect other models or users on different carriers.
