Apple plans foldable iPhone production and future device lineup

Apple is reportedly preparing for the production of its first foldable iPhone, with manufacturing expected to begin by late 2025. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the device could launch in autumn 2026. The foldable model is expected to feature a book-style design with a 7.8-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch external display. Samsung Display is expected to supply the foldable panels, with Apple potentially ordering between 15 and 20 million units over a two-to-three-year period. Due to space constraints, the device may utilize Touch ID on a side button rather than Face ID.

Looking further ahead to 2027, Apple is rumored to be developing a diverse lineup of devices. This includes the potential release of the iPhone 18 series, an iPhone Air 2, and a second-generation foldable known as the iPhone Duo 2. Reports suggest the iPhone Duo 2 may incorporate under-display Face ID technology. Additionally, Apple is expected to celebrate the iPhone's 20th anniversary in 2027 with a high-end jubilee model, internally referred to as ‘Glasswing’, which may feature a seamless titanium and glass design.
