Apple announces macOS 27 and iOS 27 updates with RAW and HDR improvements
Apple has announced significant updates for its upcoming operating systems, including macOS 27 Golden Gate, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and visionOS 27. A major feature is the expanded native support for various digital camera RAW formats. New additions to the supported list include the Sony RX10 V, Canon EOS R5 C, and several models from the FUJIFILM FinePix series, as well as equipment from Leica, Olympus, and Phase One.
These updates are expected to improve performance in applications such as Creator Studio, Photos, and Preview by enhancing noise reduction and detail reproduction.
Additionally, macOS 27 Golden Gate introduces improvements to third-party display support. The update resolves a limitation found in macOS 26 Tahoe where enabling High Dynamic Range (HDR) on third-party monitors often restricted resolution to 1920x1080. The new system allows users to utilize 2560x1440 scaled resolutions while simultaneously enabling HDR. This enhancement applies to Studio Display XDR, Pro Display XDR, and various third-party OLED monitors.
