Apple announces screen layer replacement for iPhone Duo
Apple has announced that the top matte protective layer of the iPhone Duo, its first foldable device, can be replaced if it becomes worn over time. According to Apple's official service documentation, users with active AppleCare+ coverage can have the nano-texture layer replaced for approximately US$19.99.
Kate Bergeron, Apple's VP of Hardware Engineering, stated that while the company engineered the component for high durability, providing a replacement option ensures long-term user convenience. Other AppleCare+ services for the device include cover display or back glass replacement for US$29, inner screen replacement for US$99, and accidental damage coverage for US$99.
The iPhone Duo is expected to enter global pre-orders on October 16, 2026, with a full market release on October 23, 2026. In related market news, Samsung reported a roughly 10% increase in Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales in South Korea, a trend attributed to consumers comparing foldable options ahead of the iPhone Duo's arrival.
