Apple prepares iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone Ultra launch

Apple is preparing for a major product cycle in September 2026, with reports suggesting the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series and the company’s first foldable smartphone, potentially named the iPhone Ultra. The foldable device is expected to feature a book-style design with an internal display between 7.7 and 7.8 inches and an external screen of approximately 5.3 to 5.5 inches.

Hardware upgrades for the iPhone 18 Pro series are expected to include the A20 Pro chip manufactured by TSMC using a 2nm process, variable-aperture camera technology, and larger batteries. One leak suggests the Pro Max could feature a 5,391 mAh battery.

However, rising component costs pose a challenge. Analysts report that the bill of materials for a 256GB iPhone 18 Pro could increase by 38% due to soaring memory costs, which are projected to account for over 40% of total component costs by 2027. Consequently, rumors indicate Apple may raise prices for the iPhone 17 lineup as early as August 2026, and the iPhone 18 Pro series could see price increases of $250 to $300.
