Apple Card faces investigation over credit limit practices

The Apple Card, launched in the United States in August 2019, represents a significant component of Apple’s services strategy. Developed in partnership with Goldman Sachs, the credit card integrates with the iPhone and Apple Pay ecosystem to extend device usage into daily financial transactions.

While Goldman Sachs and Apple leadership initially reported highly successful deployment and rapid user adoption, the product faced scrutiny regarding its credit allocation practices. In November 2019, the New York State Department of Financial Services launched an investigation into allegations of gender discrimination concerning how credit limits were assigned to cardholders.
