Apple CarPlay screenshot shortcut and customization tips

Apple iPhone users can now capture screenshots of the CarPlay display without taking a photo of the screen. The feature is activated by opening Settings → General → Screenshot and turning on “CarPlay Screenshots”. Once enabled, pressing the iPhone’s side button and the volume‑up button together while the phone is connected to CarPlay saves the image to the Photos app (or to the full‑screen preview folder, depending on the “Previews” setting).

Additional CarPlay advice includes editing which apps appear on the car screen via Settings → General → CarPlay, where users can hide or reorder non‑essential apps while core apps such as Phone, Music, Maps, Messages, and Settings remain mandatory. Siri’s “Announce Messages” can read incoming texts aloud, with an option to disable it in Siri & Search settings. Widgets can also be added to provide quick information at a glance.
