Apple to release iOS 27 with new Siri AI on September 14

Apple is set to release iOS 27 on Monday, September 14, 2026. The update introduces a major overhaul of Siri, now branded as Siri AI, which utilizes Apple Intelligence to provide more natural, context-aware assistance. This new AI capability allows the assistant to understand on-screen content, access personal information across apps, and perform complex tasks. However, due to regulatory conflicts with the European Commission regarding the Digital Markets Act, Siri AI will not be available to users in the European Union at launch.

Hardware requirements for the new intelligence features are strict; Apple Intelligence and Siri AI are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models. The broader iOS 27 update remains compatible with older devices, including the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation).

Other notable features include enhanced photo editing tools like Spatial Reframing and Extend, the Image Playground app for AI image generation, and improved system performance, such as faster AirDrop transfers and quicker app launches. Notably, Apple has confirmed that two features previously seen in beta—smart suggestions in Messages and automatic password correction—have been delayed and will arrive in a future software update.
