Apple develops iRing smart ring to rival Oura and Samsung Galaxy Ring

Apple is reportedly working on a smart ring internally named iRing, according to a leak from longtime Apple tipster Kosutami who posted on X, “iRing thing under development. What a surprise.” The rumor, echoed by multiple tech outlets, says the device would join Apple’s wearables lineup and target the growing smart‑ring market currently led by Oura Ring and Samsung Galaxy Ring. The iRing is expected to focus on health tracking, with potential sensors for heart‑rate, SpO2, temperature and sleep‑stage analysis, and may also enable gesture‑based controls for other Apple devices. Apple’s Health division, now overseen by Eddy Cue, is said to be pushing more aggressive health‑focused products, positioning the ring as a lower‑cost, screen‑free complement to the Apple Watch. No official specifications, pricing or launch timetable have been disclosed, and Apple has not commented.
