Apple develops new AirPods with integrated cameras
Apple is reportedly developing new AirPods variants featuring integrated cameras. According to Mark Gurman, one project, codenamed B798, was originally slated for 2026 but has been delayed until 2027. A separate version, codenamed B790, is in an advanced stage of development and may be released as early as this year.
Other recent developments for the company include exceeding $10 billion in annual sales in India during its last fiscal year. Apple has also agreed to acquire assets and hire staff from PlasmaSolve to improve scratch-resistant device coatings.
However, the company faces several challenges, including class-action litigation regarding the alleged collection of biometric data and a decline in its premium segment market share, which fell to 65% in the first half of 2026 from 74% in 2022. Additionally, iPad sales saw an 8% year-on-year dip in the second quarter.
