Apple digital wallet features expand payment utility

Apple's digital payment ecosystem, including Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, continues to expand its utility for consumers. McDonald's accepts Apple Pay for transactions both inside stores and at drive-thrus, a service that originated in the United States and has since expanded globally. Users can facilitate these payments by linking Visa debit or credit cards to the mobile wallet and using short-range wireless communication with card terminals.

Apple Wallet offers several advanced features for its users, such as Express Mode. This setting allows compatible transit cards, keys, and student IDs to function without requiring Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. Notably, Express Mode allows certain passes to remain functional even after an iPhone has run out of battery via a power reserve. Additionally, users can generate virtual card numbers through Apple Cash to facilitate payments in locations where direct Apple Pay is not supported, providing an extra layer of security by hiding actual card information.
