Apple ecosystem features enable iPhone integration with Mac

Apple devices offer several native integration features between iPhone and Mac without the need for third-party software. Through the Continuity Camera function, users with iOS 16 or newer and macOS Ventura or newer can utilize their iPhone as a high-quality webcam for applications such as FaceTime and Zoom. This connection can be established wirelessly via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth or through a physical USB connection.

Additionally, iPhones can connect to Macs and external USB storage devices for data transfer. Wired connections via Lightning or USB-C cables allow for file synchronization and backups through Finder, with transfer speeds typically ranging between 30 and 50 MB/s. For wireless transfers, AirDrop enables the uncompressed movement of original files between devices sharing the same Apple ID. Other ecosystem features include Sidecar, which allows an iPhone or iPad to serve as an extended display for a Mac.
